Big Sister, Little Brother shirts

It has been a while since I have posted, 2 weeks - yikes! I have good reason. We were able to go to my little brother's graduation from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo last weekend (my alma mater as well :) and celebrate with him. It was well worth the trek and it was a fun time with lots of family. Also, for all of my brother's friends who have since started checking the blog, congrats. Hope all your crafting is going well!

I have been saving this blog post hoping that my sweet children would be ever so compliant to allow me to take one measly picture of them. Being the dolls that they are, I never got one picture with them all wearing their shirts. Alas, I have not even attempted to get one of them all together as they have been sick or teething and I knew a picture would not go over so well :( So, instead of having one with them all in it, here are some pictures of them all on the table together. I was happy to have the girls wear these shirts to meet their new brother at the hospital, at least I got some use out of it!

To make these shirts I used the same heat transfer material and my Silhouette that I talked about in my previous posts about shirts. I wanted to incorporate a design that showed the 3 kids that I have, hence the elephants. I was really happy with how they turned out and added a bow on the first two elephant's ear's to show they are girls.

I was actually able to get a really cute picture of Josiah in his shirt taken by Jenee Harvey and am happy to have at least one good photo with him in it!

Some Shirts and Flowers!

So, this weekend was quite the whirlwind with a baby shower and birthday party! I of course had to make something for these events. I made some shirts for the baby shower and thought I could show you how the Silhouette machine works. So...


Here is my heat transfer material, cutting mat and a bit of tape to hold it in place.


Here is the Silhouette machine. I like to put a little bit of tape on the corners of my material to secure it to the cutting mat. Notice that I don't have to use a full sheet, saves time and money!


These are the iron on transfers after they have been cut out and are ready to be ironed onto the shirts.


Here are the shirts, boring! The best thing about shirts like this is that I was able to get them in the clearance section for $3 and $2! Love that!


Here's the little onesie.. I love that little whale!


Here's the shirt for the baby's sister. I put a little button on the center of the flower with fabric glue to add a little embellishment. I was happy with how they turned out and most of all that they did not cost me a bundle!

Note: Please forgive my poor photography skills! I have been toying with my camera, but it seems to not like me, no such thing as user error, right ;)!

Also, I thought I would include a picture of the beautiful flower bouquet that Brooklynn made. It reminded me so much of the way God sees us. Some of the flowers are weeds, some are iris' and some are, well, I'm not quite sure what they are! We all are the same strange mixture of sin, beauty and confusion, but God wants to wholly take us and make us more like His son if we let Him! Then He can take out the weeds and replace them with beauty to be set before a king!

Shirts for fun!

Hello all! We had a whirlwind of a week, but not without some crafting! This season of life is filled with lots of babies, which means lots of gifts! Many of my friends are having boys, so I bought some heat transfer material for my Silhouette machine and decided that personalized onesies will become my gift of choice!



First I bought a pack of white onesies, which you can get from any local store, not very exciting...


Next I found some cute images from the online Silhouette store and cut them out. I was surprised at how quickly I could cut these out (once you figure out which side to cut !)

Then, I got out the iron and presto, a custom made onesie!

I am really looking forward to doing these for my own kids...soon to come!

My Recent Obsessions!

This past week I have had too many ideas in my brain!!! I fairly recently have purchased a Silhouette machine that has been my favorite new toy in a LONG time. This weekend Jeff and I had a birthday party to go to, so I thought it was a perfect ocassion to try out some of my ideas. I have taken this idea from one of my favorite blogs, Shanty2Chic. I took their basic idea and modified it to my uses!


Here are my blocks ready to be beautified! If you want to know how to make this blocks, the Shanty website has a great tutorial!


This was my final product and I really liked how they turned out!



I really like the detail that the Silhouette can do as you can see on the tree and the bird's tails! I currently LOVE using blocks and have some ideas that I'll hopefully show you when I finish the new baby's room!

I also have made these blocks this week as many of my friends are having baby boys and thought it might be handy to have some gifts on hand :)!
